What I Learned at the “What Brands Want” Event in Mactan
Monday, June 9
I'm so excited to share a big update — I recently joined a fresh new creator community here in the Queen City of the South called Cebu Creators Circle, and it’s already proving to be such a gem for local content creators like myself.
Our first event together? A knowledge-packed session called “What Brands Want”, held at the beautiful Marina Seaview Restaurant in Mactan — the perfect mix of seaside charm and creative energy. It was held at the dreamy Glass House of Marina Seaview Restaurant in Mactan — and let me tell you, it was equal parts inspiring and indulgent!
The Glass House Vibe
Nestled right by the sea, the Marina Seaview Glass House gave us a calm, coastal atmosphere that perfectly balanced learning and leisure. Imagine soaking in insights from top minds in marketing while sipping cocktails with a view of the ocean — yes, it was that magical.
We were treated to a spread of fresh seafood, crispy nachos, and flavorful cocktail drinks that kept the conversations flowing (and the creative juices too!). It wasn’t just an event — it was an experience.
A Deep Dive into 2025 Brand Mindsets
The event was made possible in partnership with RGC (Republiq Group of Companies), and the discussion focused on something every creator wants to master: understanding how agencies and clients think in 2025.
From brand alignment to long-term collaborations, the session was packed with actionable tips on how we, as creators, can better serve the brands we work with — and in turn, grow more sustainably and professionally.

Key Takeaways from “What Brands Want”
Authenticity Over Aesthetics – Brands are shifting from “pretty feeds” to real connection. If your content speaks to your community, you’re already winning.
Metrics That Matter – Agencies are paying attention to your impact, not just impressions. Saves, shares, and conversations = gold.
Professionalism Wins – In 2025, the creators who stand out are the ones who show up professionally — clear briefs, smooth communication, timely delivery.
Niche Is Power – Whether you're into beauty, tech, parenting, or wellness, brands love creators who know and own their niche.
Why I’m Proud to Be a Cebu Creator
There’s something special about being part of a movement that uplifts local creatives. Cebu Creators Circle is more than a community — it’s a circle of support, learning, and collaboration. Being surrounded by driven, like-minded individuals reminds me why I started creating in the first place: to connect, inspire, and grow.
Between the rich insights, good food, and coastal breeze, the event was a full-circle moment for me — and I can’t wait for more.

Imposter Syndrome as a Content Creator
You’ve got ideas, creativity, and a message to share… but something inside whispers, “Who do you think you are?”
If you’ve ever felt like a fraud, doubted your worth, or feared being “found out” as not good enough, congratulations—you’ve met imposter syndrome. And you're definitely not alone.
As content creators, we put ourselves out there every day. So, it makes sense that imposter syndrome creeps in. The good news? You can push through it—and shine anyway.
Let’s talk about it.
What is Imposter Syndrome?
Imposter syndrome is the inner voice that tells you:
-
“You’re not really qualified to give advice.”
-
“You only got lucky, not skilled.”
-
“People will eventually see you're not that good.”
It makes you second-guess your value—even when you’re already doing amazing things.
Why Content Creators Experience It So Often
Being a content creator means:
-
You’re constantly comparing yourself online
-
You’re putting your ideas, face, and thoughts on public display
-
You’re often self-taught or multi-passionate, which makes you feel “unofficial”
Plus, many of us juggle multiple roles—mom, biz owner, designer, coach—which can make you feel stretched and unsure if you're “doing enough.”
Signs You Might Be Struggling with It
-
You delay launching content or products because they’re “not ready yet”
-
You over-edit, overthink, and never post
-
You downplay your wins or success
-
You avoid charging your worth
-
You feel like you’re “faking it” even after years of creating
If this is you—deep breath. Let’s fix that.
How to Push Through the Fear
1. Name It to Tame It
The first step is awareness. When you feel self-doubt creeping in, say it:
“This is imposter syndrome talking, not truth.”
Naming the fear helps you separate it from who you really are.
2. Collect the Receipts
Create a “confidence file”:
-
Screenshots of compliments or testimonials
-
Comments from followers who found your content helpful
-
Your past achievements, no matter how small
Whenever the fear shows up, pull out your receipts. Let your evidence silence the doubt.
3. Start Before You Feel Ready
Spoiler alert: You may never feel 100% ready. Post the thing. Launch the offer. Hit publish.
Confidence comes after action—not before it.
4. Focus on Who You’re Helping
Shift the focus from yourself to your audience. Ask:
“Who needs this message today?”
It’s not about being perfect—it’s about being real, relatable, and helpful. That’s what actually builds connection.
5. Remind Yourself: Everyone Starts Somewhere
Even your fave creators felt unsure when they began. No one gets a “you’re now official” certificate. Most of us are learning and evolving in public.
You’re not behind—you’re on your way.
6. Talk About It
Seriously. Open up to other creators. You’ll be surprised how many feel the same way, even the ones who look super confident.
We rise faster when we rise together.
If imposter syndrome is whispering “You’re not enough,” I want you to know:
-
Your story matters.
-
Your voice has power.
-
Your work is worthy—even before it’s perfect.
You’re already a creator. You’re already inspiring someone. And you’re more capable than you think.
Keep showing up. Keep growing. And keep creating the magic only you can share.

Crocheter's Haven at Weve CoCreate Café in Banawa Cebu
Tuesday, April 29
There’s something so therapeutic about creating something with your own two hands—and recently, I discovered just how addicting and rewarding crochet can be.
Last May 2024, I joined a cozy crochet session at Weve CoCreate Café in Banawa, and what started as a simple curiosity quickly turned into a new creative passion.
First Stitches, New Beginnings
The café itself is a calming, IG-worthy space perfect for crafting and connecting. I joined one of their beginner-friendly workshops and was instantly drawn in by the warm atmosphere, helpful mentors, and the soothing clink of yarn and hooks at every table.
I learned the basic stitches—chain stitch, single crochet, and double crochet—and practiced them over coffee and soft pastries. The instructors were patient, kind, and very encouraging—perfect for someone like me who was starting from zero.
Yarns + Yummy Eats = Perfect Combo
One of the things I absolutely loved about Weve CoCreate is that they have a dedicated yarn corner inside the cafĂ©! It’s a dream for any crochet newbie or yarn lover—you can browse different colors and textures, and even grab what you need for your next project right on the spot. No need to bring your own supplies if you’re just starting out!
And can we talk about the food? I wasn’t expecting to enjoy the menu as much as I did, but wow—everything we ordered was delicious. From their creamy pastas to the comforting hot drinks, it made the whole experience even more enjoyable. It’s the kind of place where you can stay for hours, crafting and snacking without a care in the world.
From Beginner to Inspired Maker
After just one session, I left not only with a small swatch of yarn art in my hands, but also with a heart full of excitement. Since then, I’ve been crocheting little by little—experimenting with granny squares, trying out coasters, and even planning my first mini bag project. I never thought I'd enjoy this slow, mindful art form as much as I do now.
Crochet has become my new way to unwind after a long day. It’s a quiet joy—something I can do while the kids nap, while sipping tea, or even while watching my favorite series.
